Q+A with the Bauhaus Creative Team

CRAIG WEBB – Bauhaus Menswear Designer
What inspires you – people on the street. As the brand caters to everyday people, I always keep an eye on what people are wearing from day to day. I am also heavily influenced by music and bands and what those people in the band are wearing. I love to sit in a café or a bar and watch people, see what they are wearing and how they wear their clothes. One garment can look very different if worn on individual people.
Who are your favourite bands – too many to choose. I have a very schizophrenic iPod. Currently loving Charlotte Gainsbourg, We Are Scientists (oldie but a goodie) & Temper Trap.
Did however get laughed out of office the other for Bananarama. What can I say, I am a child of the eighties!!
What blogs do you read - slamhype; hypebeast; thesartorialist; the fashionisto; patsyfox; hedislimane; thecoolhunter; insideout; streetpeeper; thedailynice – I also have a bizaare addiction to Tavi, the new girl in town. For a 13 year old she is really “in it”.
What’s your favourite festival – BDO
Where do you love to shop – In Melbourne…..sadly I am a Chaddy mole!! Its all under one roof and I can park there. Too easy. For more special pieces I favour Chido – Andrew’s cut and fabric knowledge are impeccable! I guess I am spoilt because I always have a wardrobe full of Bauhaus.
Best places oversea’s …….London - Selfridges, Aubin & Wills, Zadig & Voltaire, All Saints, Topman. Los Angeles – Fred Segal, Opening Ceremony, Barneys, The Closet.
What city most inspires you… And why… - LA & London – LA is very much like Australia in that people tend to dress very casually. London because it is always fresh and new and people really embrace new trends and aren’t scared to “go there” with an individual look and really stand out. The same goes for Tokyo too – the kids there wear things SO much more differently than any where else in the world.
