Let’s go back to the late 80’s and early 90’s TV shows & Videos for some fashion inspiration! These 5 teen stars are some of our favourite fashionistas from back in the day. We’ll show you how to re-work their unique and fun fashion today. Enjoy!
1. Angela Chase – My So Called Life
The lovely leading lady of the popular 90s TV drama, Anglea Chase. Her lack of fashion effort made her grunge style pop. The casual yet girly style-checklist she followed, consisted of an intriguing mix of pattern, colour and texture. Featuring crochet, florals, opaque tights and a slouchy tan leather shoulder bag. She truly evoked the style of this iconic era.

2. Kelly Kapowski – Saved by the Bell
The most popular girl at Bayside High. She was the beautiful cheerleader we envied, Kelly Kapowski was famous for more than her feathered hair and earnest grin. With her collection of floral outfits, cropped t-shirts and acid-wash denim, Kelly is the cream of the ’80s fashion crop. She looks particularly cute in her high waisted floral jeans and off the shoulder, oversized cropped tee. Ah-mazing!

3. Heather Chandler – Heathers
Heathers is not only a vastly underappreciated ’80s cult film, it’s also a highly fashionable one. The original ‘Mean Girls’, these popular ladies had no problem expressing themselves through style.
Heather Chandler, also known as “Heather Number One” typically sported oversized, patchworked and vibrantly coloured blazers, teamed over flirty floral dresses or pretty pleated skirts. She finished off her look with white opaque tights, lacy socks and plaid flats. Let’s not forget her enormous signature red scrunchie, the ultimate symbol of her popular ‘queen bee’ status.

4. Sue Ellen – Don’t Tell Mum the Babysitters Dead
A veritable goldmine of late 80s-early 90s, Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, is full of fashion inspiration!
Set in the summer when grunge was really beginning to take off, we follow Sue Ellen’s fashion transition from mall rat to working woman. Early in the film, her style was fun and grunge-inspired with loads of attitude. Layered floral dresses, ripped black tights, and Docs were all a part of her wardrobe staples. She never lacked accessories, taking her look to the next level.

5. Andrea Zuckerman – 90210
The original cast of 90210 inspired creative clothing styles and trends that were far from tragic. Andrea Zuckerman may be the geekiest TV character of all time, but she still managed to coordinate cute looks and sported just as much style as the more popular girls in Beverley Hills.
Check her out above in her cute white denim short shorts with scalloped floral shirt neatly tucked in and tightened with a brown belt. She also knew how to accessorise with her vintage shades and floral chiffon bow! Back in the nineties, floral prints were all the rage – but keeping tracking this trend because it’s coming back baby!
